The ISU Annuitants Association (ISUAA) is the local chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) and serves employees of Illinois State University that participate in SURS, retirees that receive a SURS pension, their spouses, and survivors.
It is with great sorrow and sadness that the Illinois State University Annuitants Association shares the news of the passing of ISUAA President Charlie Harris.
A story about Charlie and his contributions to Illinois State University can be found on WGLT.

Dear ISU Colleague:
SUAA is fighting to protect your pension.
Since 1971, SUAA (State Universities Annuitants Association) has been the voice of active as well as retired public university and community college employees in Illinois.
Two years ago, the Illinois General Assembly enacted legislation that would have significantly scaled back our pension and health care benefits. SUAA fought these unconstitutional provisions all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court—and WON.
Having lost that case, the state has shifted its target to current employees. Legislation is now being promoted that could significantly reduce your pension and healthcare benefits.
Once again, SUAA is on the frontlines fighting to preserve the pension rights of active, future, and retired employees as well as their spouses and survivors.
SUAA is also taking on the unfair Tier II and III pension changes, so that newly hired employees can regain the retirement benefits they deserve. Our continued efforts have also defeated repeated attempts to roll back the modest tuition waiver benefits awarded university employees.
We need your voice to help pump up the volume. SUAA membership demonstrates to elected officials that we are united and serious about protecting benefits for all members of the State University Retirement System (SURS) including current faculty-staff and their families. The more of us there are, the louder SUAA’s voice becomes in Springfield.
Remember, you do not need to be retired to join.
Annual dues are only $40, which includes membership in our local chapter (ISUAA). We recommend a convenient monthly payroll deduction of only $4 a month (that’s less than a latte at Starbuck’s). You can find a membership form here: http://annuitants.illinoisstate.edu/membership/.
SUAA is on the scene every day, battling against threats to our pension system. Isn’t it time to support the organization that’s always supported you? Join SUAA today.
Charles B. Harris, President ISUAA
